ABOUT US

In more recent years, there are various type of researches in Thailand i.e., drugs, vaccines, herbal supplements, cosmetic products, medical devices, etc. Much research has moved from primarily academic government medical centers and more into the private healthcare sector and SMEs such as cosmetics manufacturing companies, nonaffiliated community-based clinics.
According to the Declaration of Helsinki, all research must be submitted to research ethics committee for approval before the study begin. Thus, Specialty Independent Research Ethics Committee (SIREC) have formed to provide ethical review services to investigators who are not affiliated with an institution. The SIREC is a group of individuals with human subject protection experience in different backgrounds e.g., medical doctor, scientist, and non-scientific person, who offer themselves to work independently for ensuring that rights, safety and well-being of human subjects involved in a private sector research are protected. The review process conducts in accordance with international standard on human subject research protection e.g.
Declaration of Helsinki, CIOMS, Belmont Report, ICH GCP, etc., and the local tradition, culture, religions, laws, rules and regulations. The SIREC is responsible for independently reviewing and rendering an opinion about the proposed protocol, the appropriateness of the principal investigator and the clinical research site as well as research procedures and particularly the methods and materials to be used in obtaining and documenting the informed consent of the subjects.
